Postal Dept to recruit 55,000 gramin dak sevaks

The Departments of Posts plans to recruit around 55,000 Grameen Dak Sevaks through online mode in November, B.V Sudhakar, Secretary, Department of Posts, said.

Addressing a Press Conference here on Friday, Sudhakar informed that the software required for online recruitment is at the testing stage and the online method will ensure transparency in this recruitment.

Committee set up to Review Wage Structure of Gramin Dak Sevaks

Committee set up to Review Wage Structure of Gramin Dak Sevaks 

A one man Committee to examine the wage structure, service conditions, etc. of the Gramin Dak Sevaks in the Department of Posts has been constituted by the Government of India.

Shri Kamlesh Chandra, Retired Member of Postal Services Board, will constitute the Committee. The Committee will be assisted by Shri T.Q. Mohammad, a Senior Administrative Grade Officer, who will act as Secretary to the GDS Committee. The Committee will go into the service conditions of Gramin Dak Sevaks and suggest changes as considered necessary. The terms of reference of the Committee will, inter-alia, include the following:-

    a)      To examine the system of Branch Post Offices, engagement conditions and the existing structure of wage and enrolments paid to the Gramin Dak Sevaks and recommend necessary changes;

    b)      To review the existing Services Discharge Benefits Scheme/other social security benefits for the Gramin Dak Sevaks and suggest necessary changes;

One Day General Strike on 2nd September 2015 - Participation of GDS Union

All India Grameena Dak Sevaks Union led by S.S. Mahadavaiah, GS will participate in the oneday General strike on 02.09.2015. Strike notice to that effect has been  served on  Director General, Dept of Posts on 12.08.2015.

Finance Ministry again rejected case of GDS inclusion in 7CPC.

It is learnt that Finance Ministry has again rejected case of GDS inclusion in 7CPC. It also learnt that DOP is taking action to form a Bureaucratic Committee under Chairmanship of any retired member of Postal Services Board to study the issue.

GDS BONUS CEILING – LATEST POSITION

Secretary, Department of Posts held discussion with Secretary Generals of NFPE and FNPO and all the General Secretaries of affiliated Unions/Associations on 02.08.2013 at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi. GDS Bonus case was discussed in detail. Secretary, Department of Posts, informed that Postal Board has again sent the file for approval of the Finance Ministry after replying all the queries raised by Finance Ministry. On behalf of AIPEU, GDS (NFPE) Com. P. Pandurangarao, General Secretary attended the meeting. Minutes of the meeting will be published later.

GDS AND CASUAL LABOUR LATEST NEWS

1. Postal Board has sent the proposal for introducing Health Insurance Scheme to GDS, to Finance Ministry for approval.

2. GDS Bonus ceiling limit raising – Finance Ministry has again returned the file with adverse comments.

3. Casual Labourers Committee recommendations have been considered by the Postal Board and proposal of the Postal Board is being sent to Finance Ministry for approval. Kerala CAT also directed the Department to communicate its decision on the Casual Labour committee’s recommendations to the CAT.

4. Mass Dharna will be conducted in front of all Divisional offices on 28.05.2013 demanding immediate settlement of GDS demands. The Dharna will be organized by AIPEU-GDS (NFPE) and NFPE.

GDS employees will get bonus ceiling at par with departmental staff. Bonus ceiling Rs. 3500/- to GDS file cleared by MOF. 2.7 lakh GDS staff will be benefited.

During the discussions on Strike Charter, we were asked to submit a note on the above subject when we pointed out the fact that many deserving cases are not being considered for compassionate appointment and the wards are undergoing untold hardship/misery.  They are virtually in streets, craving for help.

 An example of a case of Sri Ashok s/o Late Gopalakrishna, GDSMP, Agumbe in Shimoga Dn of Karnataka Circle was quoted.  The family condition is as follows.

Indefinite strike continued by GDS on 6th day

The charter of demands of the strike is as follows;
• Grant status as government servants to GDS employees as recommended by Justice Talwar committee and as per the judgment given by Hon'ble Supreme Court in 1977.
• Grant bonus to GDS employees similar to government servants.
• Provide medical benefits.
• Grant compassionate appointments in all cases by removing irrational conditions and restrictions/norms prescribed recently.
• Stop abolition of GDS posts and filling vacant posts in all categories of GDS in postal and RMS offices.
• Increase of salary after certain period.
