Cabinet approves introduction of the Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill, 2017 in the Parliament

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for introduction of the Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill, 2017 in the Parliament.

The Amendment will increase the maximum limit of gratuity of employees, in the private sector and in Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous Organizations under Government who are not covered under CCS (Pension) Rules, at par with Central Government employees.

7th Pay Commission: Narendra Modi-led cabinet may decide on revised allowances for govt employees today

Central government employees, on several occasions, have expressed their disappointment over the long delay in rolling in out revised allowances.

The Narendra Modi-led cabinet is likely to meet today and is expected to take a decision on revised allowances under the Seventh Pay Commission.

According to reports, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is likely to table the proposal for the revised allowance structure at the Cabinet meet–the move will benefit nearly 50 lakh Central government employees.

7th Pay Commission: Can Narendra Modi government gift you higher allowances from April?

All hope may not be lost for Central government employees who were expecting the government to make an announcement on higher allowances under the Seventh Pay Commission after the election season.
According to some media reports, the Committee on Allowances headed by Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa may submit its report before the end of this month, giving a glimmer of hope to employees who can expect to get revised allowances from April.

The Committee on Allowances missed its earlier February 22 deadline for submitting its review report on the recommendations by the Seventh Pay Commission on allowances. 

HERE IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT COMMITTEE ON ALLOWANCES:
Replying to a question on Seventh Pay Commission in Lok Sabha on March 10, Minister of State for Finance Arjun Ram Meghwal had said the committee on higher allowances was yet to submit its report. The minister, however, added that deliberations with the committee were in the final stage.

The Finance Ministry today informed about the report of the ‘Committee on Allowances’, headed by Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa and said no hike in Transport Allowance (TPTA) for central government employees in its report. The committee accepted the 7th Pay Commission recommendation in this regard, which was announced earlier.

7th Pay Commission: Committee of Secretaries might submit report on higher allowance on February 20

New Delhi, Feb 15: The ‘Committee on Allowances’ headed by Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa, is likely to submit the report on higher allowances to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on February 20, reports Sen Times. The committee was appointed in July 2016 for 4 months and got an extension until February 22, 2017.

Ashok Lava’s committee had in October last year stated that his team was ready with its report. As per now, the central government employees are paid allowances according to the 6th Pay Commission recommendations until issuing of higher allowances notification. In October 2016, Ashok Lavasa had said, “We are ready to submit our report, whenever Finance Minister Arun Jaitley calls up”.

            I am a postal pensioner. I have put in 33 years of service as Lab Technician, Postal Dispensary, Tirunelveli 627001, in Tirunelveli postal division of Tamilnadu circle. Presently I am the secretary of the All India Postal And RMS pensioners Association, Tirunelveli and organizing secretary, CHQ. Also, I am the Convenor, Central, State, Local bodies and Public sector pensioners’ Federation, Tirunelveli.

The directive assumes significance as associations representing employees of Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) are protesting against certain decisions taken by the GST Council led by finance minister Arun Jaitley on Goods and Services Tax.

Withholding Annual Increments of Non-performers after 20 Years

     The 7th Central Pay Commission in its Report contained in Para 5.1.46 titled 'Withholding Annual Increments of Non-performers after 20 Years' has inter-alia recommended for withholding of annual increments in the case of those employees who are not able to meet the benchmark either for Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) or a regular promotion within the first 20 years of their service. The Government of India vide Resolution No.1-2/2016-IC dated 25.7.2016 has accepted this recommendation.

7th Pay Commission: Payment of arrears with current month salary; committee on allowances to meet this week

The first meeting of the Finance Secretary-led committee appointed to look into the allowances recommended by the 7th Pay Commission is scheduled this week while the payment of arrears will be paid to central government employees and pensioners in a single installment along with this month salary.

IANS has reported quoting Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa that the committee on allowances will have its first meeting this week.

7th Pay Commission latest news: Shri.Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi to issue notification of salary hike within 7 days

More than 47 lakh Central Government employees and 53 lakh pensioners have been eagerly waiting for implementation of 7th Pay Commission.

New Delhi, July 23: The newly appointed IAS officer Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi who was given an additional charge of chief of implementation cell of the 7th pay Commission is likely to issue a notification of salary hike within seven days. Chaturvedi who had earlier worked as a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) chief has been working on the implementations of 7CPC recommendations which was approved by Narendra Modi government last month.
